WebOct 10, 2024 · Personally (and I'm not saying I'm doing this remotely correctly), I held off on upgrades until I got Tier 2 level gear. Then I did a few upgrades to my Lady Bug Armor, my Insect Axe and Red Ant Club, as well as the crossbow. Figured that's enough to get me through the Pond/Haze biomes, get closer to Tier 3 gear and the whole Upper Yard.

It does a little more damage than the crow crossbow, sure, but it doesn't feel like as big an upgrade as going from tier 2 to tier 3 does on other weapons.
